Leonid Filitsyan

 

Leonid was born in Moldova in 1958 and had always shown interest in art, particularly sculpture.

At the age of 15 he started attending the Industrial Art Junior College in Moscow.

In 1977 he graduated with honors. One of his sculptures was displayed at the prestigious Central Art

House in Moscow at the exhibition of all the best works of the College.

From 1980 to 1985 Leonid studied sculpture at the Moscow State University of Art and Design.

After graduation he lived Moldova, working as a teacher at an Art School for three years. During this

time he created several monuments and memorial sculptures.

In 1989 Leonid immigrated to the USA.

From 1989 to 1994 Leonid worked in the studio of famous Russian sculptor, Ernst Neizvestny, in SoHo,

where he assisted Ernst in making several monumental projects.

In present time Leonid lives and works in New York.

He regularly participates in exhibitions and contests in New York, and has already received multiple

awards, such as

1999 Silver Medal Winner at the Allied Artists of America, Inc.

2015 People Choice Award at Wide Open 7 National Juried Art Show NYC

2016 Artist Award representing the State of New York at Figure 50 art gallery.
